ALTAR SERVERS

The altar servers assist the priest during the Mass. Those who have received all the Sacraments of Initiation and the students who have made their First Communion and are in Religious Education are eligible to become altar servers. Altar servers will serve every three to four weeks at the Mass of their preference. All servers must participate in a training session offered at St. Alfred Parish.

CHOIR

In our parish we believe in the saying of St. Augustine: “He who sings, prays twice.” We sing at all of our liturgies. You are invited to share your musical talents with us singing or playing instruments.

Our English choir, practices on Wednesday night; and our Spanish choir, practices on Tuesday night.

DECORATING COMMITTEE

This committee brings extra beauty to the Church building. They use flowers, banners, trees, candles and other materials for the liturgical seasons of the year.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF THE HOLY EUCHARIST

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist distribute the Body and Blood of Christ. Those who are called to this ministry attend a training session. After training, all ministers will serve every three to four weeks at the Mass of their preference.

FUNERAL MINISTRY

The role of funeral ministers is to assist as altar servers, lectors or in other roles as needed during the funeral liturgy. Interested persons will be trained. Funeral ministers need to be available during the day on weekdays.

LECTORS

Lectors are men and women who proclaim the Word of God during the Liturgy of the Word at Eucharistic celebrations. Interested persons will be trained. Lectors will serve every three to four weeks at the Mass of their preference.

LIVE STREAM MEDIA TEAM

The Livestream Media Team performs an invaluable service by ensuring that Masses and other liturgical celebrations are broadcast online for the sick, home bound and travelers who are away from the parish.

SACRISTANS

Sacristans assist the priest preparing for the liturgies, setting up the chalices, ciborium, and liturgical books, placing appropriate items on the credence table and by the altar, they are also responsible for changing the altar candles. Training will be provided.
